I began singing from as early as I can remember — around 8 years old — and wrote my first song at 14. I was in my high school choir and used to go for talent shows as a kid.
I started posting covers online when I was in university, trying to build my presence in music while earning my Nursing degree. I did not start releasing music until I was fully done with school — all the exams, internships, everything that came with becoming a Registered Nurse. I did not debut until all that was finished in 2025.
I always had a feeling music would eventually be that path for me. I just never saw it clearly until the day I wrote my first real song. My background in nursing taught me to work effectively under pressure, pay close attention to detail, and connect with people — and that is something evident in the way I make my music.
My influences are Afrobeats, Soul, and R&B — that was all I listened to growing up. I love the way they made me feel, so I like making personalized songs with authentic storytelling. The type of songs to make you feel things.
Igboanuzue JNE Chiemelie (born March 17, 2001), professionally known as JNE Poppy, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter blending Afrobeats, Soul, and R&B. She debuted in 2025 after completing her Bachelor of Nursing Science degree and RN licensure — a journey that sharpened her discipline, attention to detail, and human connection.
With a foundation in high school choir and years of talent show experience, JNE developed her craft while balancing a rigorous academic schedule. She began releasing covers during her university years to build an online presence, but committed to her official debut only after fulfilling her nursing credentials.
Her music is characterized by authentic storytelling, emotional depth, and genre-fluid production that bridges West African rhythms with global R&B sensibilities. Currently two singles deep — Pretty and Antidote — she is positioned as a rising voice in the new wave of Afrobeats-infused soul music.
Genre: Afrobeats / Soul / R&B

— Coming Soon
From nursing scrubs to studio booths — the story so far.
Began singing at 8 years old. Joined the high school choir and started attending talent shows as a kid. The stage felt like home from the very beginning.
Wrote my first song at 14. That was the moment I realized music was not just something I loved — it was something I could create. The spark that changed everything.
Started posting covers online while pursuing a Nursing degree. Juggling classes, clinicals, exams, and songwriting. Building a music presence separate from my profession.
After completing all nursing exams and internships, finally became a Registered Nurse — and released my debut singles Pretty and Antidote. Two worlds, one journey.
